2000 Harley Davidson Deuce by RSD

2000 Harley Davidson Deuce by RSD

This 2000 Roland Sands Softail is a unique opportunity to acquire a world class designer bike at about 1/3 of its original build price and without the painful two year wait. The entire bike has been fitted with a Roland Sands Design vintage kit. And when combined with Harley-Davidsons traditional Hardtail look for the Softail frame, it becomes a very convincing tribute to past motorcycles without appearing overtly retro. The rear fender and tank, handlebars ect were sprayed by world-renowned artist MISTER CARTOON in an incredible fade style champagne pearl paint job detailed with hand-painted pinstripes, gold leaf and silver leaf. Once the pin stripping and leafing was done, several coats of clearcoat were added to for a spectacular glossy finish that both preserves the custom colors and provides a slick seam free surface over the stripes. The paint on this bike is so dynamic that a camera lens just can’t capture enough to really do it justice.

Mounted next to the 21 inch aluminum wheel is a Performance Machine six piston brake caliper that clamps a huge drilled 13″ brake rotor. On top the color matched handle bars hold Performance Machine hand controls, chrome rear view mirror and chrome Performance Machine hand controls that are connected to the calipers by attractive braided hoses. Behind the front fork, the bikes black frame is bolted together with stainless hardware and houses a detailed Harley Davidson V-twin engine that is decked out in Roland Sands Design chrome pieces. At the bottom of the engine, a beautiful chrome PM open belt drive. At the top of the engine, the Roland Sands Design fuel tank features trick paint that is outlined in silver and gold leaf from a light gold to a deep gold. At the front of the tank you’ll find a machined vintage style gas cap, which is one of the coolest details on the bike. On the sides of the tank, the hand-painted words “Performance Machine” are ‘written’ on the paint in a classy and vintage look. Behind the tank, a custom hand stitched and “RSD” branded seat is covered in brown leather spelling Speed and Soul. At the rear of the seat, a PM Phat Tail wide tire kit sits below a custom painted and “RSD” branded rear fender and houses a chrome 18 inch custom Gasser wheel that wears a 240/40 Metzler tire. Mounted to that tire is a second Performance Machine chrome four piston caliper that clamps a matching drilled rotor.

At the top of the cylinders, you’ll find chrome “RSD: Roland Sands Design” branded rocker box covers. On the right side of the bike, the Shorty carburetor features a RSD velocity stack air cleaner with a mesh insert and sits in front of chrome Roland Sands designed Vance & Hines exhaust pipes. Below the carburetor, chrome rod covers lead your eye down the motor to a ribbed chrome cam cover. Under the seat, the chrome oil tank features a chrome oil cap, chrome oil lines. The motor sends power through a proven Harley-Davidson five speed manual transmission that features a chrome Performance Machine side door and performance machine forward foot controls.  With around 10,000 miles on its odometer, this Roland Sands Design Harley is completely sorted and ready to ride to STURGIS today!

Built by custom bike builder Roland Sands back in 2004-2005 to be a rally show bike. This bike lived on the rally circuit for about 5 years and was hardly ridden at all. When Harley discontinued the Deuce model this bike was no longer needed by RSD or PM for marketing and was replaced by another bike (the Blackline).

Working at PM (Performance Machine) has it’s perks and this was one of them, when this bike came up for sale I jumped at the opportunity! Now it’s been a year or so and while it’s a beautiful bike and gets attention everywhere it goes it’s time has come to find a new owner. If you are in the market for a new custom bike , this Roland Sands built Softail is definitely one to consider.
